Nonlinear Channel Equalization in Digital Satellite Systems

A new nonlinear equalizer for digital transmission over a nonlinear satellite channel with a PSK modulation is presented in this paper. The nonlinear channel under consideration is assumed to have a Volterra series representation. By considering the channel equalization as a fixed point problem and taking advantage of the properties of a contraction m a p ping, we show that the transmitted data symbols can be recovered in an iterative manner. The equalizer has a modular structure for easy implementation. The computer simulation shows that the proposed equalizer has an excellent performance.
